Gabriel's Message by Sting - sublime

Compare with the choir of Winchester Cathedral. Love this one, too. My favorite version is by the Tewkesbury Abbey, but I could not find their version on Youtube.

Below the album I got the Sting version from.

Gabriel's Message
Traditional -- Sting

The angel Gabriel from heaven came
His wings as drifted snow
His eyes as flame
"All hail" said he "thou lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favoured maid," Gloria!

"For known a blessed mother thou shalt be,
All generations laud and honor thee,
Thy Son shall be Emanuel,
By seers foretold
Most highly favoured maid," Gloria!

Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head
"To me be as it pleaseth God," she said,
"My soul shall laud and magnify his holy name."
Most highly favoured maid Gloria!

Of her Emanuel, the Christ was born
In Bethlehem all on a Christmas morn
And everyone throughout the world would ever say
Most highly favoured maid Gloria!

I-----

It's worth noting that the traditional verse at the last is
"and christian folk throughout the world forever saved"

Sting apparently changed the words.

Perhaps he's assuming all folk are Christian. I have to give him credit for at least singing about God and Christ instead of dissing them as many libs do.

It was made in 1987. That was before the Democrats decided that people who loved Jesus hated Democrats. Not entirely true, of course. All my inlaws a Christians and they are all Democrats -- which is kind of like helping your own executioner.
