That's normally the order... first you are elected...
"I'd love to give a speech in Germany. But I'd much prefer to do it as president of the United States rather than as a candidate for president," McCain told reporters after a meal of bratwurst with local business leaders at Schmidt's Sausage Haus und Restaurant in Columbus' German Village neighborhood.
Yeah. That's typically how it works.
I'm wondering if King Obama has overplayed his hand? Maybe there are enough Americans left who don't want an imperial presidency that are going to be kind of amazed by this.
You know, I can't see Hillary pretending to be queen of the world.
And, you know, this reminds me of when Michelle Obama was writing a thankyou note to Laura Bush for defending her (michelle) in the press. And Michelle started out the letter something like Dear Madam First lady. Well... sheesh, Michelle, she ain't the reigning queen either. How about 'Dear Mrs. Bush."
These people are starting to scare me.

We may not be ready for an Imperial presidency, but . . . folks on the left are. As long as it's the right kind of Imperial presidency (and not the bad kind, which defends America and takes out ruthless dictators). But the good kind, the redistributes wealth more fairly and lets foreign countries decided how are legal system should work, but makes it so France loves us.
I have heard the following thought expressed routinely: "The best sort of government is a benevolent dictator." And, 90:1, those people expressing that thought are liberals. Because you know what they mean by a benevolent dictator. Castro, baby. The 1 conservative things maybe Reagan or Rush Limbaugh would make a good benevolent dictator. But for the most part, conservatives don't think that way, because we know there is no such thing. Benevolent dictator is an oxymoron. You aren't simultaneously benevolent and unwilling to allow your subjects the ability to lead their own lives, choose their own destinies, and elect their own leadership.
Liberals only have a problem with Imperial presidents (so-called) when they are conservatives, just as they only have a problem with theocracies when they are Christian. Is the theocracy Muslim, or a pagan climate change worshipping cult? Then, that's cool.
I'm ready for an Imperial Obama presidency. Because I think, if elected, he will make Clinton's missteps during the first two years of his administration pale by comparison. You think we had a Republican sweep in '94? Waiting until we've had two years of Obama.
And, let's face it. The Repubicans, as a political force, do much better when they are running against Democrats and liberal stupidity than they do when they've got the reigns of power and are actually trying to accomplish something.
