God Bless Our President

From Walker's hubby:
I opposed this man from the start. Having said that I pray God to keep and save my president-elect Barrack Obama. Give him wisdom to lead our great country, and keep him and our great country safe from harm. Lord keep us a thriving and prosperous country.

Although I may oppose some of his policies in the future, I pray God that I never succumb to the vile hatred that was directed at our current president.

God bless America, and God bless our president elect !

I don't think it's in most of us to hate Democrats the way they hate Republicans. Frankly, the whole Whitewater/Lewinski deal made me a little queasy--I would have preferred the Republicans during that time had been policy focused, rather than playing gotcha politics with Bill Clinton.

I don't think there are going to be any books speculating on the many ways you could assassinate Barack Obama. If there were, rank-and-file conservatives and Republican pundits would not defend them as "interesting" and "thought provoking" the way liberals defended the movies, books and stage plays that talked about or depicted the assassination of George W. Bush.

I do know this. I'm already tired of the fawning love fest from the press, the Barack-voting public, and Barack Obama himself, who called his election "a new dawn in America". This Maximum Leader stuff was old before he got elected. The Messianic depiction of Obama is going to make the love the press had for Clinton seem like a fleeting schoolgirl crush.

This is going to be an extended, passionate love affair. I'm already tired of it. Seriously, it's nauseating. Oprah called Obama's election: "The most meaningful thing that has ever happened." Um, what about the founding of the United States? The cure for polio? The Emancipation Proclamation? School desegregation? The Defeat of Germany and Japan? The creation of the atom bomb? Man walking on the moon? The birth of Christ? The rise of the Roman Republic? Parliament replacing monarchy in England? I could go on.

I, too, hope Obama governs with wisdom and prudence. Sometimes, people can surprise you. They really can. But there is nothing in Barack's history so far to suggest he will be particularly prudent--only that he, like FDR, can put a very charismatic face on very destructive policies.

At the same time, I think it's awesome that are backwoods, racist country that is controlled by rich white people somehow managed to elect a black guy president. Where the rich white people and Zionists asleep at the switch, or what?

And how is it the Republicans didn't steal the election? What happened with all our Republican Diebold machines? Well, at least the folks at Alternet will be convinced that Democracy--such a failure for electing Bush--now magically works again. And will, no doubt, continue to work until a Republican is accidentally elected.

"our" backwoods, racist country. Not "are". In addition to facing eight years of Obama, my type-dyslexia is getting worse.

Yes, it is a time for prayer not anger and hatred.
