Tiger on the prowl

My new cat, Tigermama, is quite a hunter. But I'm not sure I like her catching birds! I was hoping she would catch the many chipmunks around. I saw her stalking them, but the only catch I've seen was this sparrow. Tiger had quite a big time with it, throwing it around energetically.

Meanwhile, her mate, the all-gray and handsome Sugar Ray, doesn't hunt. He just lays around and looks good!

I also have regrets about the cats killing birds but I'm also sorry that they have wiped out the chipmunks too. I never saw one till I moved here.

There is a downside to everything. Was it a house sparrow? I won't feel so bad about that.

Pamela, probably one of the tree sparrows we have in abundance here. But they were all out today and Tigermom was hiding somewhere.

Patrick, Mark says you wouldn't like the chipmunks so much if they chewed all the wiring up in your pickup truck. :-( I do like the little guys, though. But they have been really destructive lately. I still put some bird seed up on top of a brick wall so the chipmunks can get it in relative (but not absolute) safety.

But another down side of chipmunks is that they eat bird's eggs. I once saw a robin severely chase and persecute a chipmunk for this!
