Unfit to serve

Harry Reid (and the Democrats) have sunk to new lows, "I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week," Reid told journalists. And yet Mr. Reid supports legislation that would "phase out" American participation in the war in Iraq over twelve to eighteen months.
First of all I do not believe the war is lost at all and if politicians like Mr. Reid would stop aiding and abetting the enemy we could win in short order. Mr. Reid's pronouncements that "the war is lost" cannot have a good affect on those brave American soldiers currently serving in Iraq and the majority leader of the United States Senate is spreading enemy propaganda, which if it is not treason it should be.
If Mr. Reid truly believes that the war is lost then the only morally defensible position for him to take is an immediate cutoff of funds to run the war. If "the war is lost" we should not spend any more American lives or capital on a losing venture. Mr. Reid knows that the American people would not stand for an abandonment of our troops while they are in harm's way but he does not have the guts to do the right thing. He is unfit to serve.

What a tool that Reid is.

My son is serving right now, and the last thing he needs is a bastard elected official of the United States telling him that he lost the war.

Friggen traitor, in every sense of the word!

Exactly. How do Mr. Reid's comments make our soldiers deployed in Iraq feel? Or worse yet those who have received their orders and have not yet deployed?

Lost, Bullshit! Only lib. politicians have lost their will.

Tell your son every real American supports him, regardless of what some whimp, lib politician says.

Reid needs to be impeached, along with several of his like-minded cronies. He's worse than despicable!

God bless Leo's son and all those who serve to protect this country.

How can the Democrats support a guy like this? I'm just reminded of John Stossel interviewing Murtha supporters, who were very supportive of Murtha--but didn't agree with almost anything Murtha had actually said about America, the military, or our troops. But they voted for Murtha for years and probably will again. Part of the problem is these folks are given a blank check by a number of voters who vote based on old ideas of the Democratic party, or who their parents voted for, or for reasons other than the far left positions and policies that actually support in Washington.

I can understand why some would be against the Iraq war, a pre-emptive war, or an ongoing guerilla war--many conservatives are opposed to pre-emptive wars and the war in Iraq, specifically.

But the idea that it's lost because of anything other than the overt and constant support and sympathy of the Western media, Democrats, liberals, and the European left is silly. How can we "lose" a war that was functionally won when Saddam was deposed? The problem in Iraq is one radicals seeing deep weakness in the American and western character--and, in regards most of the American media and the left, they are right--and exploiting it with a cynicism and deftness that should prove to any rational observer that they are more than smart enough to manage a democracy and a free-market society, if forced to do so.

God bless the troops. I'll leave it to others to make recommendations regarding Harry Reid. ;)
