In a new book, former president Gerald Ford says that Bill Clinton's refusal to admit he lied about having sex was 'a character flaw.'

But, what the observation misses is that Clinton's problem was infinitely worse than a flaw. Indeed, if you recall, the crazy Clinton followers were told to say that, in Clinton's case, TELLING LIES WASN'T WRONG because 'everyone lies about sex.'

So not only did Clinton refuse to tell the truth (a character flaw), he actually promoted falsehood as a way of doing business (a bankrupt soul.)

The fact is that Affirmative Action sets aside room for less qualified candidates, chosen on the basis of race.

Sad thing is that the program just makes white students better. Fewer white students qualify for the fewer spaces. Meaning that white students have to work harder to perform better. Meanwhile, Affirmative Action students whose main qualification is race, just don't have to work as hard.

Thus, whites keep getting better. Blacks keep being almost as good.

FUN MONDAY: How we met

Mark and I lived just 30 miles apart and we were both joining internet dating sites hoping to meet someone. I met A LOT of nice guys, many of whom I really liked, but most didn't like me. A couple did, perhaps.

Mark also was 'playing the numbers' -- going out with lots of people hoping to find the right person.

I hadn't seen Mark's ad and, really, neither one of us knew we were looking for each other. But he found my ad and sent me this romantic note:

"We live in the same neighborhood. Might as well have dinner."

Man, that's romance. But we met and on the first date, we decided to go to a karaoke bar the next week. Mark loved singing karaoke and I loved listening. And that was that. A year later, we were married. I've never been happier in my life with my wonderful, dependable husband, friend, and partner.

Update **** Fish notes in comments that the whole cholorfluorocarbon controversy was utterly unproveable in the laboratory.

And that's true, like global warming, the cholorfluorocarbons scare story claimed there was absolutely NO natural explanation for an ozone hole.

BUT it could be explained by cholorfluorocarbons. Thus, every spray bottle in existence had to be rid of cholorfluorocarbons and also, by the way, we couldn't use air conditioning either.

That, apparently didn't go over that well because, as Gayle and Pamela point out, there are still propelled spray bottles but a flurry of legislation made special regulations for air conditioning and other such nonsense.

The environmental scare stories (and culprits) are just getting bigger and the hystrionics are laughable. Not only is there a hole in the ozone, but YOU and YOUR SUV and your very existence are snuffing out life on this planet!

And the solutions are just draconian. I've read some idiots who say there should be no flush toilets, no cars of any kind (well... they environmentalists will need them, of course). Some of the extremists say humans should stop reproducing all together. The sort of claims that really simply scream 'insane.'

There was lots of idiocy going around in the 1970s surrounding environmentalism: Global cooling; global famine, global extinction of all species ending with humans (the food chain scares). But I rather doubt that ANYONE would claim at that time that humans could warm up the earth's climate and, if they did, it did take 30 years of propaganda before people stopped rolling on the floor and laughing. We should still be laughing.

Memory Lane: Remember when you could actually use spray bottles?

If you are a youngster, you probably don't even know that we used to be able to use spray bottles that didn't require constant pumping. But that was before the Swells convinced us that the sky was going to fall if we didn't ban "propellants." Propellants are the things that make spray bottles spray.

And man the EnviroSwells really won that one. Now you'll get carpal tunnel from doing your freaking hair.

That victory was just a prelude to today's "kill all the humans" global warming philosophy. But you can see the same strategies at work. It's fascinating really.

B Hussein Obama's kingdom (of his) on earth

You know the problem with B Hussein Obama's wish to establish a kingdom (of his) on earth and the liberal's deep desire to save the poor, is that it can't be done. We've tried now for 60 years to save the poor and what we have is more, deeply established, poor.

You can pump billions of dollars into 'poor folks' and there are just a set of people out there who will do anything to stay destitute. In fact, if you gave them NOTHING they would be just as poor as if you gave them something, but the difference is that if you gave them nothing, fewer would be drug addicts because it would just take too much effort.

They are the people who are the 'ravers' of this society (for those of you who catch the movie reference.) No matter what you do, they will hurt themselves and others and they will raise children who populate the jails (if you are lucky.)

You've got another set of folks out there who will live up to the standards you pay for but they'll never do anything more. They'll take the low-cost housing, food credit cards, utility reductions, mentoring programs for a little night out, welfare or disability payments for spending money, the 'child credit' tax giveaway will buy them a car once a year, medicaid will pick up the hospital bills and they'll always go directly to the emergency room for the slightest sniffle. They will all raise kids that do exactly as they do. Their boys will father children out of wedlock and live off their women and girls will start early producing kids who live off the state. And all the time the liberals will be whining about taking care of the poor when, in fact, we are all throwing a fortune at the little bastards now.

I say let's save some money and tell them: We'll give you all $50,000 and then we will give you nothing else. Go kill yourself. (I would be willing to bet that half of them would buy a new car and then complain about the oil companies.)

I'm sick of the poor. I'm interested in the workers, the producers. I'm interested in people who hit the door every freaking day and go do something useful. Don't tell me about the poor any more.

Took this 24 second video of my puppies on the back porch and caught a very painful playtime! They had just dug up the flower bed and were causing other major mischief when I took this short video. Oh my, puppy love can be a little rough. The roar you hear is a plane flying by.

At top right is Dobro, ear flipped and alerted, probably because I was yelling NO NO NO! haha. And at left, Banger is similarly chastised, although at 10 weeks they are like 2-year-olds and don't listen to most things I say.

I would not recommend that the gays have a gay pride parade down Bin Laden's goat path to protest his treatment of gays. Just a guess but I rather doubt Bin Laden is any more interested in peaceful protest than he is negotiations.

Nonviolent protest can just be so, what's the word?, VIOLENT. And, you end up with just as many casualties as when you fight the bastards. The difference is that, when you fight, the bastards get some casualties, too.

And, who knows, you might win.

60 MINUTES interview with Justice Thomas

I'm really looking forward to Rush Limbaugh's interview with Clarence Thomas, but a quick word on the 60 minutes interview. Is anyone amazed that 60 Minutes (in the intro) could say, and I paraphrase, Justice Thomas isn't what you think he is: He's intelligent, thoughtful...

Is this outright racism or the hubris of liberals who believe that everyone who watches their show believes (as they apparently do) that Justice Thomas is an idiot?
